Barbour Mens Ashby Wax Jacket
Made from 6oz Sylkoil Waxed Cotton, the Ashby is an updated version of Barbour's famous Bedale jacket, and whilst it still keeps all the original features, it has a more tailored fit to it.
The Ashby has a fold down corduroy collar, tartan lining, a two-way zip and a pop stud placket cover (it took me a while to figure out what the pop stud placket cover was!) There's also two Large front bellow pockets and two front handwarmer pockets.
The great thing about any Barbour jacket is that they’re hard wearing, heavier duty and therefore not as fragile as some of my other Gortex winter jackets.
After a day out messing around in the mud I simply give it a quick wipe clean and it's smart enough to be worn in the evenings too... a bit like an old Land Rover. And just like an old Land Rover, a Barbour jacket will look better with age.
For more versatility, the Ashby has an interactive front zip which means it’s fully compatible with Barbour’s optional zip-in liners, a worthy investment as the Ashby isn’t the warmest of jackets during the cold winter months.
As I’ve already mentioned, the Ashby has a more tailored fit than others, and consequently after a lazy winter my Ashby is a little too fitting, and therefore has been stolen by Muddy Madam until I’ve lost a bit of man-flab! Like any Barbour it’ll be around for years, even decades so I don’t have to hit the gym just yet!
NOTE: Although the Muddy Madam (she is 6 foot tall) is modelling it in these photos, this jacket is actually for men.
