Deuter Infiniti Backpack
We were given a goody bag each at a trade show, and the actual bag part of each was a Deuter Infiniti Series Backpack, so I thought it would be rude not to do a review.
First things first, the Deuter Infiniti is all about comfort. Its ergonomic design ensures that even when fully loaded, it sits snugly against your back without causing those dreaded pressure points. The padded back panel with ventilated stitch lines means that you don’t get that sticky, sweaty back feeling. The adjustable ergonomic S-shaped shoulder straps are also padded for comfort.
For those of us who often find ourselves stuffing every possible ‘just-in-case’ item into our bag, you’ll be thrilled to know it’s sturdy enough to handle a full load without sacrificing comfort.
Storage
It’s practical too. With multiple compartments, including a roomy main section with separate elasticated pocket slot that can happily fit a laptop, a front organiser pocket, and two side pouches for easy access to water bottles or snacks, it’s got a place for everything. The main top zip goes all the way from one side pouch to the other which makes it easy to get fully into so you’re not rummaging around in a panic when you need that torch, trail map, or emergency chocolate bar, and the zip has a good inch of material covering it in case the usual British rain descends.
Lightweight, But Not Without Limits
One of the standout features is how light the Deuter Infiniti feels. It’s a good size for everyday use, or a jaunty wander through the Dales, however, if you’re planning a long trek with lots of gear, this backpack isn’t the one as it doesn’t have the technical bits you may want like waist straps to control the load.
No Nasties
This product is free from PFAS (per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances). PFAS have water, dirt and grease repellent properties, but they are persistent chemicals and harmful to people, animals, and the environment, which no one wants. Instead, Deuter uses durable water-repellent finishes (DWR) that are environmentally sound and harmless to human and animal health, and free from these nasty ‘forever chemicals’.
Eco-Credentials
Deuter gives a second lease of life to surplus fabric from the production line - perfectly good material that would otherwise be destined for the bin - and transforms them into the Infiniti Series of products, helping to reduce the ecological footprint one stylish accessory at a time. Each product in the series is a little unique, with variations in how the fabrics are used, their coverage, and their overall look, but don’t worry, every piece of fabric is thoroughly tested to make sure it’s up to scratch, so you’re guaranteed a high-quality end result with a planet-friendly twist.
And if that didn’t convince you, Deuter also donate 10% of the buying price of the Infiniti series to 1% for the Planet where thousands of businesses and environmental organisations work together to support people and the planet.
Our Verdict
The one got was a funky purple two-tone colour which has now become my go to backpack when traipsing around. Though it may not suit those looking for a larger pack for extended trips, I think the Deuter Infiniti Backpack is an excellent choice for day hikes, to use as a school bag, and general outdoor adventuring as its design, comfort and durability make it a great choice.
