OSO Phone Grip 360
A while back I lent my favourite phone mount, the OSO 360 to a friend, and quite quickly it became his favourite phone mount which consequently meant that I haven’t seen it since.
Due to the 360's clean lines and ability to blend in with the rest of the dashboard, he told me that he’d completely forgot that he’d borrowed it as it quickly became a part of of his car. Being in his early 20’s and fashion conscious, he said that it looks ‘really smart’. He did question the suction pads intention however, was it meant to stick on the windscreen or swallow it up! “It’s a bugger to get off”, he said, which is a plus, especially if your phone weighs the same as a family car.
For me, the real test of a phone mount isn’t whether it can stay secure whilst driving for 5 hours on a motorway, but rather what it's like driving on green lanes and P&P sites. I needn’t have worried, the 360Grip worked a treat.
Advertised as the worlds strongest suction cup technology I tested their claim by attaching the 360Grip to dash of my old Discovery. What sort of test is that you may ask. Well, at the time I hadn’t cleaned its dash for well over 3 years and it was covered in dust, sand, mud and something weird that I’d have to send off to a biology lab to identify! I gave it a quick wipe with a bit of spit on a cloth and that’s where the 360 stayed for the next 3 years!
I drove along a friends farm track at speed, down bumpy and rocky green lanes, and the 360Grip fulfilled its job descriptions perfectly and held my mobile in place without any vibration, jiggling around and more importantly, falling off.
The 360Grip has a lockable pivotal head that as its name suggests, pivots 360 degrees, and its grippy silicone coated U-Grip jaws securely holds any mobile phone from an iPhone 5 to a Samsung Galaxy Note 2, and anything in between.
The great thing about the OSO range of holders and mounts are that they’re all removable and can be used almost anywhere. I’ve had the 360 attached to a kitchen cabinet whilst I’ve been preparing tea and Skypeing a friend, I don’t know what’s more impressive, OSO mounts flexibility or my ability to multitask!
Because it’s re-usable, the suction base will get a bit grubby from time to time, when it does simply run it under warm water, clean it off with your hand and leave to dry for a few minutes when it’ll be refreshed and ready for action again.
Over the last 3 years my 360Grip has coped with summer heat and dust and freezing conditions with frost on the dashboard of my old Discovery and it has never let me down.
So, what have I replaced the 360Grip with? Another one of course!
