Luci Color Inflatable Solar Light
A couple of years back I reviewed the Luci Original blow up solar light, and loved it, and now they’ve gone all funky and made a multi-colour version.
I mean why would we want to settle for one boring colour when you can have eight super cool ones?
Just like the Original, The Luci Color is great for travelling as it collapses down to a 12.7cms disc with only a 2.5cms height when deflated, and takes only a few puffs to blow it up. It’s powered by a solar panel, and has a clear hanging strap on the bottom which means you can hang it up to catch the sun throughout the day.
The major difference in this lantern compared to the Original is that the lantern walls have a diffused sparkle finish so the light it gives off isn’t as in-your-face bright, which is perfect for providing a lovely glow, without blinding everyone and attracting every bug in the universe, whilst sitting outside chatting with friends. You can have it permanently on one of the 8 great colours or you can choose the setting that cycles through all the colours, dimming them up and down.
I can see these being brilliant for outdoor parties, and I think they would be amazing for the trendy farm weddings, where stringing up electrics isn’t a practical option. You can even float them in a bath for a relaxing soak or to amuse the kids, or you could put a few in your pool, if you are fancy enough to have one, as they are waterproof, lightweight and completely solar.
The other thing I think it would be good for is as a child’s night light, as the light is diffused and you can put it anywhere in the room or tent, no pesky plugs needed, and if you used the multi-colour cycle I think it would send them off to la-la-land pretty sharpish (just remember to put it on the windowsill every now and then to charge it up).
Overall this is more a mood lighting tool rather than a task tool (which is more the Original’s job), but I think it has a lot of fun uses.
