JAECOO launches at Goodwood Festival of Speed
Exciting news from the world of off-roading! JAECOO, a fresh face in the adventure vehicle scene, is gearing up to make its grand entrance in Europe. Where’s the big debut happening? None other than the iconic Goodwood Festival of Speed from July 11th to 14th.
At this spectacular event, you’ll get to see JAECOO's very first model, the JAECOO 7, up close. It’ll be showcased alongside its sibling brand, OMODA, in ‘The Grid’ – the main exhibit area for manufacturers. You can also catch a glimpse of it at the First Glance Paddock, and Richard Attwood, the legendary 1960s F1 driver and 1970 Le Mans winner, will be taking the JAECOO 7 for a spin up Goodwood’s famous hill – a thrilling first public appearance for this vehicle in Europe!.
The JAECOO 7 is no ordinary SUV. It’s a premium off-roader that mixes rugged capability with sleek design and a tech-packed, spacious interior. They’re committed to blending top-notch four-wheel-drive performance with world-class safety and cutting-edge tech in their SUV lineup. Whether you’re navigating city streets or tackling off-road trails, these vehicles are designed to handle it all.
A bit about JAECOO’s roots…
JAECOO is part of Chery International, China’s leading vehicle exporter for over two decades. The brand name merges the German word ‘Jäger’, meaning ‘hunter’ and the English word ‘cool’.
Let’s talk about what’s under the bonnet.
The JAECOO 7 boasts a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, paired with a 7-speed Dual-Clutch Transmission from Getrag. Future versions will include plug-in hybrid and all-electric options, so there’s something for every eco-conscious adventurer.
For off-road enthusiasts, the JAECOO 7 can wade through 600mm of water and comes with 7 driving modes including Sand, Mud, Snow, and Off-Road. Its design includes approach and departure angles of 21° and 29° respectively, and a maximum breakover angle of 200mm. Plus, the Bosch-developed Integrated Power Brake system provides lightning-fast response times, simulating a differential lock for enhanced control in tricky conditions.
The JAECOO 7 isn’t just about performance, it looks sharp too. It features a bold front with split daytime running lights and a vertical waterfall grille. A clean, defined line runs along the side, with flush-fitting door handles for better aerodynamics. At the back, a full-length light bar accentuates the SUV’s wide stance.
Inside, it’s all about luxury and tech. You’ll find a 14.8” high-res touchscreen, a 10.25” LCD instrument panel, and a head-up display. The cabin is bathed in customisable lighting, offers 50w wireless charging, and comes with an 8-speaker Sony audio system. A panoramic roof and a suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) add to the premium feel.
Driving the JAECOO 7, whether on or off the road, is a breeze thanks to advanced features like a 540° panoramic camera system that gives you a clear view of your surroundings. The SUV measures 4,500mm in length, with a wheelbase of 2,672mm, a width of 1,865mm, and a height of 1,680mm.
Safety is a top priority for JAECOO. The 7 features a sturdy body made of 80% high-strength steel and includes 10 airbags. It meets global 5-star safety standards and comes with a generous seven-year/100,000-mile warranty.
