2014 Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show, N.E.C.
With over 1,700 classic cars and 300 motorcycles on display and the ever popular auto jumble and the Live Stage, this years Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show at the NEC was as good as they get, and to me at least seemed far busier than previous years.
I’m not sure if this popularity is down to the increasing number TV shows featuring classic vehicles, the rising values of classic cars or just more people appreciating them, but it’s certainly been a great year for the classic car enthusiast.
This years show celebrates the big screen with a variety of famous cars on view, like a certain Mustang 390GT 2+2, a black Pontiac Trans-Am and a Beetle for you to marvel at.
Wandering around the 11 halls it was great to see that someone had grouped all the important clubs together, and by ‘important clubs' I obviously mean the Series I, Series II, Range Rover Register, BLRG and the Ex-Military Land Rover Association, which was a nice change.
The Jaguar stand is always a favourite of mine, not just because they have a fine collection of Jags, but I usually spend a £1 or so on a raffle ticket for a chance to win a Jaguar XK. I must write my contact details clearer next year as I never seem to receive a phone call from them!
Make sure you have some spare cash with you too as there are plenty of companies willing to take it from you in exchange for their goods. A typical example is Angelwax who produce their own range of car care products in small batches in Scotland. Over the years I’ve used and reviewed many different car detailing products, and for me, Angelwax are by far the best.
What I love about the Classic Motor show is the camaraderie between the many different clubs and enthusiast alike, everyone is friendly and welcomes you in for a chat.
There’s always so much going on that I can’t possibly write about it all here, so I'll let the photos show you what you’re missing (there would have been more but the battery died on my camera) and I'll hopefully we'll bump into each other next year.
